From April 25 to 29, the seventh edition of the ISCT International Taijiquan Culture Festival took place in Naples. Organized by the International Society of Chen Taijiquan (ISCT) and the Italian association Italy Chen Xiaojia.
The ISCT Festival was led by Master Chen Peishan, chairman of the International Society of Chen Taijiquan (ISCT), who shares this role with his sister, Master Chen Peiju. Both are 20th Generation of the Chen family and 12th Generation Lineage Messenger of Chen Family Taijiquan.
The technical portion of the Festival, concentrated over the first three days, offered participants a unique opportunity to deepen their study of traditional Taijiquan forms. The lessons focused on two bare-handed sequences of Chen-style Taijiquan: the Sizheng Form, fundamental to the style, and the Yilu Form, known for its technical complexity and historical value. In addition to these bare-handed forms, traditional short weapons such as the sword and broadsword were practiced, providing a complete experience of Taijiquan’s diverse techniques. The third day of training was dedicated to an exclusive preview: the Sizheng Broadsword sequence (Sizheng Taiji Dao).
Another key aspect of the Festival was the practice of Tuishou, or “push hands”, a core training method that develops sensitivity, grounding, and the ability to perceive the opponent’s energy and intention.
The Festival proved to be a valuable opportunity not only to refine technical skills but also to encourage cultural exchange among practitioners from different countries, united by their shared passion for Taijiquan.
The video offers a five-minute summary of the activities carried out over the three days of technical practice, providing a glimpse into the intense sessions focused on forms, weapons, and Tuishou.
